Dynamic Island Rebuilt

Your MacBook notch,
finally a Dynamic Island.

NotchBay is a Dynamic Island-style hub for the Mac: live activities for music, calendar, calls and AirPods, a clipboard tray for everything you copy, and on-device dictation that types into any app. Nothing leaves your Mac.

The best part of your Mac was hiding in plain sight. NotchBay puts it to work.

Everything, one glance up

Live activities that
actually live.

Music, Safari, the Tray, Claude, meetings, dictation, timers: one island becomes whatever matters, then gets out of the way.

And a hundred things you’ll never think about again.

On for a second. Then gone.

About Notch Bay

The notch isn’t a flaw to hide: it’s the point. Since the first build, everything runs on your Mac: dictation, OCR, the Tray. No accounts, and nothing phones home.

Drawn to the hardware: chip and card geometry measured on real Macs, springs tuned like Apple’s, down to the point.

How it works

Open it once.
It does the rest.

  1. 01.

    One app. One launch.

NotchBay is a single native Swift app: no account, no setup wizard, no Electron. Open it once and a Dynamic Island settles in around your MacBook’s notch. That’s the whole setup.

  2. 02.

    Nothing you didn’t allow.

Each feature asks for its own macOS permission the first time you use it: the microphone for dictation, your calendar for the next meeting, media for what’s playing. Grant what you want, skip the rest. It all runs on your Mac; no accounts, no cloud.

  3. 03.

    Your day, in the notch.

Play a song, join a Zoom or Google Meet call, copy a link, and each one becomes a live activity above the keyboard. Glance to check it, hover to peek, click to expand. Your clipboard, calls and AirPods, right where your eyes already are.

  4. 04.

    Then it disappears.

When nothing needs you, the island goes quiet: a slim black sliver shaped like the notch it lives in. Status flashes surface for a second, then fade. You stop noticing it’s running. That’s the point.

FAQ

Asked, answered.

Is there a Dynamic Island for Mac?
Not natively, macOS doesn't ship one. NotchBay brings a Dynamic Island for macOS (often searched as "Mac OS") to the MacBook notch: live activities for music, calendar, calls and AirPods, plus a clipboard tray and on-device dictation. For the full landscape, including free options, read our macOS Dynamic Island guide.
Does it work on Macs without a notch, or on external displays?
Yes. On notchless Macs and external displays NotchBay runs as a floating island at the top of the screen, it never draws a fake notch over your display.
Is NotchBay a subscription?
No. NotchBay is a one-time purchase with every update included. Buy once on the site, your license key arrives by email, and it unlocks one Mac for good.
Can it really control Zoom and Google Meet?
Yes: mute, stop video, or leave the call straight from the notch, with a live timer, even while you're working in another app.
What does the Tray keep?
Whatever you copy: text, links, colors, images, files, plus screenshots and screen recordings as you take them, auto-tagged by type. It holds your latest 60 clips (pin what matters and it never expires), and screenshots are OCR'd so the text inside them is searchable.
Is it private and safe to install?
Yes. NotchBay is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple. Your content stays on your Mac: no accounts, and clips, transcripts and events are never uploaded. Each permission (calendar, microphone, screen recording) is requested only when you turn on the feature that needs it, and dictation uses Apple's on-device speech engine, so audio never leaves your Mac. The app sends one anonymous install check-in (a random id, app version and license state) with no personal data.
